Linocut Wrapping Paper

with Kerry da Silva Cox

In this 90 minute workshop, we’ll learn how to to use relief printmaking to making small linocut plates and print our own wrapping paper. We’ll look at some examples of relief prints and patters, develop a block, and do some printing. This course will require a small investment in materials if you don’t already have a block printing practice. Registrants will receive a suggested list of materials and substitutions.

About Kerry: 

Kerry da Silva Cox is a New York City-based visual artist and teacher with a diverse background. She founded Big Sky Workshop in 2017 and has worked with students from Pre-K through the undergraduate level and has worked with many NYC-based non-profits including Studio in A School, the Children’s Museum of the Arts, and IPCNY. She has been a student of yoga and mindfulness practices since she was a teenager. Kerry holds an MFA (‘13) in Visual Art and MA (‘14) in Modern and Contemporary Art, Theory and Criticism from Purchase College, SUNY, where her research centered on Brazilian Art under the dictatorship (1964-1985). She has performed and exhibited at various venues across the U.S. including the Museum of Modern Art, Berkley Museum of Art, and A.I.R. Gallery. You can check out her work at kerry-cox.com.
